Production & Community

Boa Gente Virgin Coconut Oil Production

Our production is low-tech, small-scale, labor-intensive, and community-rooted — a deliberate choice that ensures sustainability for the factory and freshness, traceability, and exceptional quality for the products.

Our virgin coconut oil is cold-pressed in small batches at our cottage factory in Machavenga, in the rural district of Inhambane, Mozambique. Using stainless-steel equipment and manual labor, we ensure consistent, commercial-grade quality while preserving the oil’s natural purity.

The process is beautifully simple: each coconut is opened, grated, gently dried, and pressed — all within about one hour of opening. This freshness is what gives Boa Gente oil its delicate fragrance and silky texture.

The oil is then filtered, bottled, and labeled directly in our on-site laboratory, where every step follows strict sanitary and quality standards. From tree to jar, our process is designed to guarantee that the oil you receive is pure, safe, and of the highest quality.

100% Organic & Fair Trade

Our virgin coconut oil is made from the freshest local coconuts, sourced at the fairest prices from around 100 small-scale farmers living within a 10-kilometre radius of our factory. Each coconut is picked no more than five days before processing, ensuring maximum freshness and nutritional value. Our neighbors, twice a week bring their coconuts to the factory directly. No chemicals, additives, or preservatives are ever used neither in the soil that grows the trees, nor in any step of the processing of the coconuts — just pure, natural goodness.
